"If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—
let Israel now say—...
then the flood would have swept us away,
the torrent would have gone over us;
then over us would have gone
the raging waters." Psalms 124:1, 4-5
In 1 Samuel 7:12, Samuel sets up an Ebenezer stone in Israel to remind the nation of Israel of God's continual grace and goodness towards them. Like us, the Israelites required constant reminders of God's continual provision. Why are we so quick to forget God's mercies towards us?
As Christians we set our sights so low on deliverance from sin in our lives. We often feel like the battles we fight are hopeless. Psalm 124:7 declares "...the snare is broken, and we have escaped!" God wants to not only save us from sin, but eradicate the temptation of that sin in our lives. How does this affect your prayer life?
Part of remembering God's faithfulness towards us is declaring what He has done for us. Is this part of your life? Can you share what He has done for you with one person this week?
