What is the Biblical definition of sacrifice?
Questions for Prayer:
Leviticus 1 says that the burnt offering for atonement must be "without defect." Christ was the ultimate sacrifice without defect as well. Romans says to offer yourself to God as a living sacrifice. Within the context of Leviticus 1 and Christ's sacrifice, what would your life as a living sacrifice look like? Are you living that out fully?
The Jewish conception of sacrifice involved the physical offering transitioning into the spiritual. The Hebrew word for sacrifice is olah, meaning "to draw close". What practices can you institute in this physical life to draw closer to God spiritually? Ephesians 5 emphasizes self-examination in the effort of drawing closer to God.
