What is the Role of the Church?
Questions for Prayer:
The modern perception of the local church is that the staff and leadership should be the ones doing the majority of the work in ministry. (i.e. If we want a "homeless ministry" than the church should pay someone to go out and do the majority of the work for the homeless ministry.) But this is not necessarily Biblical. According to the Bible, the church's job is to teach and equip people and provide them with the resources for ministry. What would that change look like in your life and at Calvary?
One of the biggest problems the Church is facing in the modern age is the "Me" Culture. We are conditioned to having things done for us and having everything the way we want it. We are used to being consumers and not producers. As members of the church, God has called us to being part of a "We" culture. The Church does not exist to provide us with programs and to "feed" us spiritually. The Church exists so that we can go out and evangelize and minister to others. What would it look for your life to take a more active role as a spiritual producer? What unique passions and talents has God placed in your life that could be used to further the Kingdom, and how could the Church help to support you in this?
