Equipped: Are We Spectators?
Christ made you to be a servant.
Questions for Prayer:
The only place that the word "spectator" is used for in the Bible is when Paul talked about being an eyewitness to Christ's power (2 Peter 1:16). Being a spectator is not something God encourages for a Christian, but we often treat Christianity and church this way instead of finding a way to actively serve and contribute.
Christ did not just give us a mandate to evangelize and build up the Church body, but he also equipped each of us with unique gifts to make this happen. Like salvation, these gifts were purchased through Christ's blood so they must not go to waste. The church should not be about putting on a performance or entertainment, but should be building each other up, growing closer together, and loving others and the Lord. With these purposes in mind, what are some ways you could use your gifts at Calvary? Some rough categories are Hospitality, Outreach, Teaching, and Caretaking, or anything else! If God has put something that you would like to serve in on your heart, we'd love to hear about it. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
